What would you do if you had to travel to a country where it's people don't know how to speak neither your language nor English?

Mad gesturing. Having said that, I've recently been thinking of printing out like a series of simple pictures, and making it into a laminated card to bring on my travels, e.g. picture of a toilet, picture of train, picture of bus for basic needs.

I'd have printed maps so I can get around. And printed simple phrases so I can show it to people if I need help. :) And have mobile data. Lots and lots of mobile data.

I went to Brazil and even if I didn't speak Portuguese I communicated through signs and gestures and sometimes they understood me when I talked because Portuguese and Spanish are similar :)

I would at least try to learn basics. Asking where something is, greetings, etc. I'd also have Google Translate to help, although sometimes it isn't reliable! I've heard a lot about how people in other countries appreciate if you at least try to speak their native language!
