Hi! I'm from the Philippines. :) I speak two languages fluently -- English and Tagalog. I used to teach ESL to Koreans so I can read and write in Hangul. I also tried learning French and failed miserably. :)

I've tried learning it three times now. :) I always quit because I can't do nasal sounds. :(

I can't. :( I can only do a rolling R, American R, and a horrible UK R.

Hi everybody, hi Jessica, my name is Carolina, I am Colombian, I speak spanish and I learned English, right now I am studing french, it´s so difficult to me, because I wasn´t abble neither to do nasal sounds, but with the time it began to happen, the R continue being a challenge for me, it´s sometimes frustating, but I enjoy it at the same time because is a beautifull language, all this for tell you that you should continue, its difficult, but practice makes the master, so: bon courage!!!

Hi Carolina! Thanks for the encouragement! :) I'm now focusing on learning Korean but I might go back to learning French as soon as I get my Korean to a B-level. :)

I can't even imagine how people do it. Hahaha! Which is ironic because I'm an accent trainer. My husband said it's similar to the muscles used when trying to expel phlegm. I can't do that either so I'm pretty much effed. :P

Hello and welcome! Is there lot's of "spanish" surnames in Philippines? I am fluent in french and know lots of people learning this language. Sure it's difficult like any new language you're learning. Can you give me an exemple of a word you seem to can't pronounce correctly? Maybe i can help you, who knows.

The French R. Hahahaha! We watched a French animated movie, Un Monstre Paris. I can't do the Uvular R in monstre and Paris. May 7-year old could. Lol.

As for surnames, Filipinos were required to change their last names to something Spanish during the Spanish occupation. So most of us have Spanish last names. My full name is actually Jessica Sto. Domingo Moreno. :) My mom's family is of Spanish descent. My dad's family is not but they were from a line who went with Moreno. :)

Ohhh..very stupid from Spain to have forced to change your names. For the pronounciation in french, I guess it comes with time! And practice practice. My son who is 8 years old, attends school in french since 5, main language is spanish, still has difficulty with some words for some reason (that include the letter R). Even in spanish.

They had some good reasoning behind it. Then some that were just plain...colonizing. Lol. We used to not have last names and just use the places we're from. I would've liked to be Jessica of Mordor. :P
