Hmm. The only essential here is the first one; one must have enough motivation to learn a language. The others are merely useful ideas. Maybe the article should be renamed "7 Useful Tips for learning English".

In Thailand now. Next up Tanzania and Philippines.

Much harder to find you own motivation, the students at our academia who are sent by parents are surpilrsise suprise our lower level students. No matter the ability if you don't reinforce what you are studying or learning once or twice a week it isn't going to stick in the mind as easily

For those learning a language that is not used in your country, how would you apply 2, 4, and 5? Do you join local clubs with the same interest or attend an in-person language school?

Everyday is a learning journey. Keep going!

Language swap online? Change the settings on devices to your target language, watch foreign films etc

I'm learning Korean and #2 and #3 I mostly do by watching Korean movies and listenign to Kpop. My sister got me into it in the late 90s (Arirang!) so we both use Korean expressions now and then. As for #4 and #5, I'm stuck. I just have no one to practice full sentences/convos with. Also no time and energy to build new relationships online just so I can practice it on them.
