About us

Who We Are

The Language Tools community is a group of like-minded people on a mission to learn new languages and experience new cultures. We are from multiple countries, time zones, and continents all across the world. Despite our geographic differences, we are an enthusiastic team dedicated to helping one another learn and grow. If you’re looking to learn a new language and make some friends along the way, our community is for you.

What We Do

At Language Tools, we offer all the free tools you need to accomplish your language learning goals. Yes, you read that right, our tools are totally free. This is just one of the many reasons why people love us. It doesn’t stop with the tools, though. We are a community of learners from all over the world who support and encourage the growth of one another. Our community is not just for language learners, though. We also support language teachers as well. We connect the creative teaching skills of our growing list of teachers with our ever-expanding commonwealth of learners. We truly support our language learning community in every way: free tools for the do-it-yourselfers, teachers for those looking for personalized training, and the most supportive group of like-minded individuals around.

Why We Do It

Our founder, Leo Smith, is a language learning enthusiast who created Language Tools as a way to give back to fellow language learners all across the world. He envisions a smooth running website where fellow learners can pursue their language learning goals and interact with our global community. Language learners also have access to an expanding library of free tools that are fun and easy to use. Language Tools was built with the sole intention of helping you learn another language while having fun and making friends along the way. Eventually, we would like to see the Language Tools site managed entirely by our strong community of language learners. All revenue generated by Language Tools is first used for operating and maintaining the site and second for developing new tools. All other income will be used to support the Language Tools charity project in Tanzania, Africa - a multi-grade school for the Masaai children.
